James Woods
James' pictures give him "happy memories and beautiful moments captured for when I am old or living somewhere else." Other than
photography, he also enjoys playing badminton, Aikido, hiking, sunning at Hamada beach, lazing in an onsen, snowboarding or trying anything that he has the chance to do.
James had 4 photographs in the contest this year: "Walk in the rain" (2nd place), "Ume Blossoms", "Cafe View" and "Icy Winter."
"I came to Japan because I thought I'd get the chance to learn to see the world in a different way... and I did.
I bought my first camera here and have enjoyed taking pictures so much in Hiroshima and around Japan. I like the contrasts
that you find in Japan. The vibrant MokurenMagnolia alive on a busy street covered in soot from the passing cars,
the seasons and their difinitiveness, the wonder of spring and winter are also great subjects and what it is to be a foreign
object in Japan, arousing curiosity from a safe distance the way that many foreign things are appreciated here."
