Be a BEE this summer
If you enjoy tootling around on your bike, have a concern for our environment and have a few weeks spare this summer
, why not tootle the length of Japan with a bunch of like-minded people?
The Bicycle For Everyone's Earth group are now planning their annual pilgrammage from Hokkaido to the southern
tip of Kyushu spreading the gospel of environmentalism as they go and they are looking for full and part-time riders
to take part.
Here's the recruitment blurb from the group
BEE Japan is a diverse group comprising both Japanese and
international members that promotes environmental awareness in Japan.
Our main event is the 2 to 3 month BEE ride, starting in August, from
Hokkaido to Okinawa. We travel the length of Japan exclusively by
bicycle, respecting the environment by eating only vegetarian
foodstuffs, and supporting organic, fair trade and local produce.
We also carry out educational activities about the environment at
schools, English discussion circles, and with international groups.
At the moment, BEE Japan is seeking both full-time and part-time
riders to join for its ride this coming August, particularly Japanese
riders! In addition to participating in the ride, full-time riders
will help in fundraising prior to the ride. After enough funds have
been raised for the ride, remaining funds are donated to a Japanese
environmental organization of BEE 's choosing. We are looking for
people who love Japan, the environment, and riding.
If you are interested in this year's ride, please email Maria Pacana
(the 2007 coordinator) at [maria at beejapan dot org].
