Organ-za
Izumi Goto has been a big part of Hiroshima's music scene for many years, but she is now branching out
into other areas she has a passion for- cooking and running a cafe-restaurant, bar and live music venue called Organza.
Before starting Organza, Izumi worked in a variety of different restaurants around the city, learning the
different tastes and cooking styles of Hiroshima's popular eateries like Nanak Indian, Warung Matahari Indonesian and Mario's Italian.
Although the menu changes often depending on seasonal ingredients and her inspiration, she always make delicious, wholesome Japanese and Asian inspired homestyle cooking - she has such a variety of dishes that she makes really well!
This also makes it hard to describe what type of restaurant Organza is, but it is safe to say that if you order
the daily special, usually a soup, rice or noodle dish, you will not be disappointed.
I first went to see her place when it was an empty, uninspiring concrete room, she has transformed the space to actualize her dream of a comfortable place to spend time in. As a long time fan of everything strange and quirky, retro and wabi sabi, Izumi has made Organza something truly unique and charming.
If you are a vegetarian, and you don't see anything you like without meat on the menu just ask for "niku-nashi omakase kudasai" and she will create something wonderful for you to eat.
For dessert, Izumi's original daily cake and mini sundae combo is a real delight for 500 yen. She also has teas, Vietnamese style coffee, fair trade coffees and a big selection of alcoholic drinks.
