"Best American atmosphere in town!"
Tara - Thu Aug 2010
Thick juicy burgers, amazing fried foods, Guinness, pool, darts, and fantastic bartenders, staff, and patrons make this bar as close to an American bar that you can get in Hiroshima! They whip up some mean Long Island Iced Teas!!
"Friendly and Fun !!!"

I've been going to Kembys for nearly two years now and its a 'Family' ! I try to get there as often as I can, now that I'm living in Yokohama. I miss the friends I've made and a lot of fun times. (Food is good too) I'll be back again ... one day !

This is a great spot to drink the night away in a fun (perhaps loud) atmosphere with some expat friends. The alchy selection is huge, which I think many of these jaded reviewers have taken for granted. The food menu is equally big, and while there are probably some hit or misses (what restaurant doesn't?), where else are you going to find a rib steak sandwich on this side of Japan that doesn't require a military ID?
"Gone down hill"
Jim - Sun Jan 2007
It's been a couple of years, but tonight I finally got a chance to go to back to Kemby's for some of that not-so-healthy but oh-so-tasty "Merixican" fare. Surprised that it was almost empty, I was nevertheless happy to be able to breathe smoke-free air. Happy, until the "food" arrived. Nothing was tasty anymore: The nachos were welded together by some kind of white amorphous glop, the front-of-the-menu-featured BBQed ribs had simply been boiled and then disguised in a lathering of cheap red sauce. As my last attempt to recapture the taste of the Kemby's of old, I ordered the trusty beef burrito. Couldn't eat it. The generous shreds of beef had been replaced by a hint of gound meat, again, drowned in the identical, mysterious substance used to smother the unfortunate, aforementioned nachos.
Adios Kemby's (whoever you are...)
"Not as good as it was"

Used to be a nice place. Recently the food prices all went up significatly, some key staff have left, and its lost some feeling. However, it has a pool table. And can be a good place to meet Japanese people.
"The Good and The Bad"

The Good: great meeting place, long and properly high bar, great place to hang out and shoot pool. The Bad: the burger meat tastes like it was bought from a 100yen store. The Good Again: most meals should please the kind of gaijin who live in Japan.

Well the title says it all. In Japan, eat Japanese food. If you're dying for a hamburger you could make a better one yourself at home. Nothing original.

Awesome! The food was "Boo-chee E-Na!" (phonic Japanese) and it was nice to talk to an American who could answer a few questions about the language and Hiroshima and understand what I am saying. :-) The Beer was ice cold and a very nice price during happy hour. It is an easy walk from the hotel and it has POOL TABLES!
