In Hiroshima, they are a useful resource for people wanting to get rid of good quality clothing and household goods when moving house or simply finding that you don't need something. The Salvation Army uses what you donate with the homeless and needy in Hiroshima. They ask for good quality clothing (no shoes) that is preferably in season, household appliances and pots and pans that are in good condition as well as other household goods that would help someone in need.
In particular, they don't really need futons, but blankets would be welcome.
When you go to donate goods, you can leave it in the garage near the glass window if you don't see anyone there. If you need to talk with someone, use the call buzzer just outside the front door.
