Big Wave Skate Rink /50m Pool
An amazing olympic-sized pool that the city can be proud of.
Originally built for the Asian Games held here in Hiroshima in 1991, competitive and recreational swimmers can enjoy the rarely crowded 50m lanes between June and September.
Much to the chagrin of swimmers, the pool is closed in late September when preparations begin to transform it into an ice rink, for which it is used between November and April.
The skate rink is open October to April and they advertise ice-hockey classes for kids during the week as well as skating workshops and even a chance to try your hand at curling. It does get busy on the weekends, but even then, there seems to be enough ice space for everyone.
