Hiroshima Youth Hostel

Hiroshima Youth Hostel is located on a　mountain in the Ushita area, just outside the city center.

It is closed in the middle of the day (10:00-15:00) to encourage you to be out sightseeing and enjoying Hiroshima. Similar to all other youth hostels, there is also a strict lights out rule and the front door is locked at 23:00 every night.

The Youth Hostel also offers guests and non-guests the opportunity to listen to the accounts of A-bomb survivors (hibakusha) at special meetings held once a month. There is always an English speaking interpreter and the talks are usually followed by some kind of group craft activity. Late July to the end of August the Youth Hostel offers the attractive (depending on how busy it is) option of using the small public outdoor swimming pool for only ¥100. Available to guests and non-guests alike.

Access

• By Bus
  It takes about 20 minutes by bus to get to the Youth hostel from the main Hiroshima JR Railway Station- bus stand number 7 or 8 and get on bus A,B or C. Get off at the bus stop called Ushita shinmachi I-chome . Cross the main road and go up the small road past a small convenience store following the small signs to the Youth Hostel along the side of the road. Follow the road up to the right and you will soon see the youth hostel on the right just after some colorful paintings drawn by children on the roadside.

• By Astram Line
  From the city center, you can ride the Astram Line monorail system to Ushita- Big Wave station, it is about a 10 minute walk heading away from the city center, turn right at the first road on the right and head up toward the mountain.
