Hakushima Nail Salon Soubien

The New York fashion influence on nail art and nail salon culture has hit Hiroshima.

Although none of the staff speak English, Soubien has 6 full time staff who are all very talented nalists, a pleasant salon streaming in Western pop tunes, some information in English and romantic western movies for you to watch while you get your nails done.

Getting a manicure- nail treatment (nail shaping, cuticle cutting and treatment) and color with some nail art (on two nails with stones) took about 2 hours and cost just under 6,000 yen.

Getting a pedicure with some exfolliation, moisturizing, cuticle cutting and treatment, shaping and cleaning as well as coloring and nail art (on one nail) cost just under 10,000 yen. It took almost 3 hours.

The price list also includes hand massage, foot massage and foot spa.

If you want to have longer, more elegant nails put on, they offer both soft gel acrylic nails and hard gel acrylic nails. A full set will cost you a bit more than 10,000 yen but the price may be negotiable.

One girl was in there when I was there asking for a full set of acrylic gel nails and some artwork with a 10,000 yen limit and they worked something out to suit her budget.

The salon also offers classes for you to learn how to do it yourself. Choose from nail school, make-up seminars, eye-lash curling classes and other classes and seminars you can take. Ask about their classes at the salon for more information.

Reservations by telephone or fax are recommended, but they also take walk-ins if they have openings.
