The Corporation

Based on Joel Balkan's book The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, this 2003 documentary film examines at the rise of global businesses legally regarded as persons by virtue of their incorporation and its consequences, is one of those celluloid gems that can easily slip through Hiroshima without being noticed.

It has received an impressive twenty-four flim awards, 10 of them audience choice awards, and has an exceptionally high 91% "fresh" rating on the Rotten Tomatoes movie site. As well as lots of snappy cut-and-paste footage to keep viewers engaged for the 2 hours and 25 minutes that the film runs, 40 interviews include not only darlings of the Left such as Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, but also industry insiders, top executives, CEOs and economists such as Milton Friedman. Whichever side of the fence you are on, the consensus seems to be that The Corporation is a thought-provoking film, well worth seeing.

The Corporation is showing at Salon Cinema until May 19.
