Plum blossom finally on its way

Shukkei-en Garden held its annual Ume-mi Plum Blossom-viewing tea ceremony over two weeks ago, but the blossoms in question were nowhere to be seen. And who can blame them; January and February were bloody freezing this year.

As you can see in this photo published on the Chugoku Shinbun website yesterday, the plum blossoms are slowly starting to poke their heads out, 22 days later than on average.

“Hiroshima and Peace” Summer Course, Applications Now Open

Applications are now open for this year’s “Hiroshima and Peace” intensive summer courses at Hiroshima City University to be held July 31 – August 9.

The two courses, one for undergraduate students and another for graduates, usually attract a very international mix of participants and is very reasonably priced.

Maids take over Fukuyama blood donor clinic

4 students from Anabuki College in Fukuyama moe-ed up the local blood donation clinic by turning it into a maid cafe for two days this week.

In an effort to boost donations at a time of year when they typically drop off, and to try and spark interest in donating blood among the young people, the students college’s Media Business Department came up with a plan to give the local donation clinic a bit of otaku cool, by turning it into a maid cafe.
