Visual prankster Shigeo Fukuda’s designs have a simplicity and playfulness that make this exhibition at the Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum one for all the family.

Yuya Kihara was born and raised in Hiroshima. He has a degree in fashion design, but after graduating became more interested in pottery. For the past 3 years he has poured most of his time into crafting cups and other tableware from his workshop. The fruit of his labors is on display in the Haikyo Gallery on the 3rd floor of Organza with prices starting from just over ¥1000.

It’s a good opportunity to get a close up look at the intricate detail and workmanship that went into making these striking outfits, designed with not only protection in mind, but also as ceremonial dress, and possibly the outfit in which the wearer might meet his maker.
