Traffic-free running and cycling route
Central Park Chuo-Koen to Red Misasa-bashi Bridge
Since 8/2004 a new path has been made under a bridge in Hakushima allowing a wonderfully long, traffic-free loop to be made from Chuo-koen all the way to the Red bridge of Misasa. In total about 15km of traffic free cycling, running, walking or skating bliss.
Great of for a relaxing stroll or to sit on the grass, under the trees for a picnic.
In the Hakushima section of the loop, there is a new super-turf (green) that has been put down on the path for your running pleasure (more bouncy, easier on the legs).
It is also popular in the evenings when the "landing lights" are turned on and people come out to walk off their dinners- if you loop around the river between the two bridges it is aproximately 3 km long.
Midday, this loop is a popular place for the boy's sport teams from the nearby high school to warm up. Many people also exercize here every morning and evening all year long.
Its not a bad place to roller blade, bring kids to ride bikes, and join in with the regulars on their walking and jogging route.
Start from Central Park and follow the path along the river heading away from town (right side). Follow the path under bridges and cross at the big Red Bridge and head back toward town on the other side (right side). Make sure to cross back over the bridge on the left when you come to a major highway (old route 54) and left again along the road until you turn right onto the Hakushima loop again.
