Family Pool Chuo Park
A great outdoor 50 meter pool which they (unfortunately) cut in half to make two 25 meter sections.
Not really intended for serious swimmers, this is a great place to chill out. There is even a "current pool" which pushes you around with a gentle current. It is a great way to swallow a lot of water if you try to swim against it... or you can cruise around in total relaxation on an inner tube for ¥100.
Gets pretty lively at the weekends when it is completely packed with sunbathers and waterbabies. Bring a walkman to drown out the almost constant drone of the bored lifeguards telling the kids the multitude of things they're not allowed to do.
This is a fantastic place to take kids of all ages, the little ones have shallow pools and great slides to play in and the current pool is fun for all. One half of the big pool is also given a step up to make it easier for kids learning to swim. They also have an in between lane for slightly older kids learning to swim. There are no crazy rules against kids under a certain age not being allowed in even with their parents (like most public pools in the city) so it is a great place for kids to learn.
The lifeguards seem better trained, but be aware that the lifeguards are not very dilligent and the rumor is that they receive almost no lifesaving training, the fact that they weren't even wearing swimsuits the last time I went was a dead giveaway that they weren't as prepared to jump in and save my kids as I would hope- so keep a close eye on your kids when they are playing in the water.
Adults (18+): ¥670
Children (age 7+): ¥300
