"Crappy Sushi Nobu"
Chad Phillips - Wed Nov 2009
Sometimes it not the food, it's the person serving you. Chef Nobu, the food was OK, but you need a refresher course in personality.
"California Rolls!"
Jen - Wed Nov 2007
Honestly, as much as I like real Japanese sushi, I do miss American style sushi like Rainbow Rolls, Dragon Rolls, Crunchy Rolls, etc. I was so happy to discover that this place existed! The dinner menu is a little expensive but it has a great atmosphere and Chef Nobu is great. You might have to initiate the conversation but he's really nice. Overall, this place is fantastic and I can't wait to go back!
"Yummy!"

This is where I go for lunch to make my day off great. I was wary of the idea of "fusion-style" cuisine for quite a while, but I think in Chef Nobu's case, I think it is ultimately, an art. The presentation is lovely and always makes me feel...kind of indulgent and spoiled(though reasonably priced). I like feeling indulgent and spoiled on my day off, so this place is perfect for me.
"Finally, sushi with character!"
Katrina - Fri Jun 2007
Nobu`s sushi and sashimi is a rare treat in a sea of bland bentos . Nobu`s knowledge and experience in the art of sushi is obviuos in his swift execution of the creative process. Nobu, himself was very kind to us. and the food was beautifully presented for a reasonable lunch set price.
"Roll and Nigiri sushi, other great dishes too"

Everytime I go here, I am impressed. I said that Nobu is friendly probably because I had a good chat with him, but really he is quite shy. If you are friendly with him and courteous, I am sure he will follow suit.
And the argument about it not being REAL sushi is crazy- he has a good variety of nigiri (traditional) sushi with the fish on top of the pressed rice as well as the california style rolls that you cannot get anywhere else in Hiroshima. The range in prices reflects the quality and kinds of fish, the more expensive sushi is the Nigiri style with premium cuts of fish, worth trying for a special treat. The lunch time sets are substantial and very high quality if you want to try Nobu but you are on a budget.
There is a big daily menu on the chalk board (in Japanese) of the other special dishes that he makes too- if you can read Japanese or ask him about them, you won't be dissapointed.
"Sushi for the Wuss in you"

If you're into avacado rolls and Americanized sushi, well this is the place for you. For a taste of real Japan, grab your Japanese friend and hit a real sushi bar. The only big letdown was Chef Nobu.
"accomodating to vegetarians"
a - Sun Feb 2007
i had a fantastic meal at this place while visiting hiroshima. i have been in japan for 6 months and sadly had not been to a sushi restaurant up until i went to nobu as i am vegetarian and trying to find vegetarian sushi was too daunting of a task for me. i ended up at creative nobu sushi and while there were no vegetarian rolls on the menu, the chef was so accomodating and made me a delicious assortment of vegetarian sushi, and even made me special vegetarian miso soup (without the bonito dashi). the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the fun jazz music created a lovely atmosphere. the chef was very friendly and chatty. i had an excellent experience here and now i can finally say i've had sushi in japan.
"Cool"
Bill - Sun Jan 2007
Food was okay, atmosphere appealing, but the chef didn't speak to us once. We were the only customers there and were at the counter. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but it wasn't. We had specific questions about the menu, but they were not answered by him even though he was right in front of us. Were we not cool enough to speak to? Don't think we will be back.
"A fantastic experience!!!"
Christopher Hirst (ajympton@aol.com) - Sat Oct 2006
My son (aged 12) and I travelled throughout Japan recently and this was the best food and the best restaurant on the trip. The Sushi rolls were a new experience for me (I recommend the Italian and the Jalapeno). It was good to see someone fusing lots of different tastes and styles together from around the world. Nobu was a really sound guy, he recommended dishes and he also explained how he put them together. Like I say, I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
