Aikikai: Aikido Dojo in Saijo
International Aikido Dojo Hiroshima
(Hiroshima Prefecture Aikikai)
What is Aikido?
Aikido is a martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba. It can be practiced on many levels and by people of all ages. There are no weight restrictions or weight categories. It has many elements useful for self-defence, but many people practise it as a way to keep fit and healthy and as a type of spiritual training. There are no competitions or tournaments and training usually takes the form of repeated practice of basic movements and a variety of throwing and pinning techniques.
Hiroshima International Aikido Dojo:
This Dojo was founded in 2002; the three instructors started practice in Europe and have more than fifteen years experience in Japanese Dojos too. The Dojo aims to incorporate elements of health and spiritual aspects into practice and to create a place of encounter for people from different cultures. It is affiliated to Hiroshima Prefecture Aikikai and through there to the Japanese Aikikai.
