Salon Cinema
Salon Cinema, along with its sister theatre Cinewtin, is your best bet in Hiroshima for independent films from Europe and America.
There are two screens at Salon, each seating nearly 100 people. Boasting digital sound quality and wide screens, the seats are also extremely comfortable with ample legroom. The seats in theater one come with tables to put your drinks and snacks on, and theater two was Japan's first all reclining theater.
There are also many interesting and striking movie posters in both English and Japanese available here.
Yuko Yoshida writes:
Salon cinema is a special movie theatre for me because it's the theatre that I went for the first time in my life.
I remember watching "The Sound of music" with my mother, but I couldn't read the subtitles very well (I was only five)- I enjoyed it anyway.
In those days, the theatre was shabby, but it's now clean and VERY comfortable with big soft chairs- I often watch movies bare foot (maybe I'm too relaxed!).
