Nicky Fernandes
Nicky has been taking photographs for about 10 years and was a resident photographer for a company in
Sydney, but says "photography is a creative outlet and a hobby."
Nicky had 4 photographs in the contest this year: "Jon's ear" (1st place), "Sogo", "Helene's Dai
Kitchi" and "Dead Baby." She chose to go to
Go-ten-jiki to redeem her 1st place "free dinner for 2" prize.
Of the pictures that she submitted, she wrote:
"These pictures have been taken over the past couple of years since I've been in Japan. They reflect
my desire to capture the details of everyday life that are often overlooked. I'm particularly
interested in reminding people to look again at people, things and situations and see them from a new
perspective."
